The Big Event aims to provide key skills for everyone; whether you have diabetes or are living with someone who has the condition. The plan for the day consists of a great range of workshops and talks, about a number of different interesting and informative topics that could help you with regard to diabetes management and beyond. The full programme can be found online here; and is definitely worth taking a look through - it touches on everything a person with diabetes would need to to know from Pumps to Pregnancy, from Children to Research - there is a talk for everyone!
The knowledge and skills you could pick up from this event could prove invaluable. However the best part about events such as these is the amazing people you meet. Because of course... when people with diabetes come together, something amazing happens. That's what I believe and what I've found from the numerous events I've attended with other people who also have the condition. Now this is your opportunity to put the idea to the test. Not only will you able to share stories and experiences with others, but it could even help you take away some of the fears that diabetes sometimes brings. Fear that you're alone in it, fear that if you do x,y or z something bad might happen. Or even if you've recently been diagnosed- you will meet a lot of like minded people and through this learnt that you're not alone.
Here is a run down of details of the event. More info can be found on the Diabetes UK website.
