For me in 2013 the highlights were beginning the year with a Nike campaign that featured my insulin pump too. In the spring time I had the wonderful experience of volunteering at the Diabetes UK family days in North Wales. This was followed by some great YLAG meetings and having the pleasure of spending time with other young people with diabetes from around the UK. The diabetes community went international when I flew to Italy for the International Diabetes Federation youth leadership camp. Where flying home I had the first ideas about Blue Circle Diabetes Support Group. Then I had the excitement of flying up to join the young DUK's in Glasgow to witness their awesome website launch along with Diabetes UK Scotland. Then it was a whirlwind of radio and newspaper interviews about sport and diabetes and then into the hard work of creating the website for the Blue Circle Diabetes Support group which launched on world diabetes day in November.
This year I've been really grateful for the amazing friends I've made within the diabetes community around the world, I've loved exploring the diabetes online community in words and images and loved being part of all of the volunteering groups there are to offer. It's been a pleasure starting the blue circle support group and hope that it continues to grow with the rest of the diabetes community for 2014! And of course writing this blog has been a really fun experience too! Thank you to all those of you who have read and supported it all 20,000 of you! There are exciting things to come for next year so watch this space and all the best in the new year!
