Today was the first day of the Abbott European Bloggers weekend, I've been looking forward to this for a while since I got the invitation and finally the day had arrived. The event is being held in Berlin in Germany, so I took two flights, from my home town to Amsterdam and from there on to Berlin.
Both flights were only an hour long and because the event coincides with the UEFA Champion's League football match, there was a surprise waiting for me on the second flight. There was a great atmosphere on board, with the excitement building for the football fans ready for tomorrow night's game. As you can see from the picture below, all passengers were treated to a football shirt and a hat, which was a great surprise.
But that wasn't all, another fabulous surprise was waiting for me when I arrived at the hotel where we'd be staying. A great big welcome pack full of tasty goodies, courtesy of Abbott to celebrate the diabetes exchange event. It was full of different German foods and drinks and was a great way to be introduced to the country. After a quick change it was off to meet my fellow bloggers and to enjoy the lovely reception put on for us down at Bellini's in Berlin city center. Where it was great to get to know the 20 other bloggers who had flown in from all over Europe for the event.
We had so much to talk about and it never ceases to amaze me how much we have in common, from living with the condition of diabetes and I can't wait to hear more about their experiences tomorrow. Along with the exciting programme of talks and events that Abbott have planned for us. But it's off to bed with me, ready for our early morning group run. But don't forget that if you'd like to see what we're up to tomorrow, you can follow me on Twitter (@MelStephenson01) and Instagram (Torchbearer2012).
