This weekend Cardiff is to host the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, attracting elite and amateur runners from all over the world. To mark the momentous event being held in the Welsh capital, the Cardiff Sports Expo was held at the Motorpoint arena in the heart of the city, to which I went along to meet double Olympic champion athlete Mo Farah.
After spending time with a number of local schools, Mo came on stage at about midday and did a great Q and A session in front of the audience at the expo. Farah came across as a very laid back and charismatic person, making everyone laugh with his cheeky sense of humour.
Mo also showed his human side when he spoke about missing his family when he trains away in America, and talking about his responsibilities as a husband and Dad of four. The children and adults alike were inspired by his humble talk on how he trained hard to become a professional athlete.
I'm sure those people planning to run in the Cardiff World Half who are running tomorrow would have come away doubly inspired. Not just by Mo's talk, but by the fantastic atmosphere of camaraderie and sportsmanship that was on show at the expo too.
