A few months ago I spoke at the first of the Diabetes UK Type 1 Away Days in the heart of Glasgow, this year. It was a day event organised by the charity, for people living with type 1 diabetes and their loved ones. The day involved a talk from a person with the condition on the highs and lows of living with it. There was a talk from a dietitian in diabetes who spoke about carbohydrates, and also a talk from a psychologist on diabetes distress. I conducted an interactive talk/ workshop on sport and diabetes and that's what I'll be talking about at the next Type 1 Away Day that's coming to Bristol!
The aim of the days is to bring people with diabetes together in a warm and friendly environment, where individuals can chat and share experiences, whilst learning more about ways of managing the condition from the speakers on the day. The date for the event is November 11th 2017 and the venue is the Mercure Bristol Holland House Hotel. The cost of the day is just £10 per person and lunch, coffee and refreshments are included in the day. After the talks and presentations, there's also an opportunity to let your hair down with drinks and socialising in the bar afterwards.
If you'd like to sign up for the day or find out more, you can do so here and I'll look forward to seeing you in Bristol in a few weeks!
